FAQ

Royal Pop strap questions, answered.

General

Will any 20mm strap fit the Audemars Piguet × Swatch Royal Pop?
Not directly. The Royal Pop's watch head doesn't have lugs or spring bars — it clips into a Bioceramic frame. The frame carries the strap. To wear a third-party 20mm strap, you need an aftermarket conversion frame that wraps the case head and exposes a standard 20–22mm spring-bar interface on the underside. Swatch also sells official alternate frames + lanyards at around $45.
Can I wear the Royal Pop on my wrist?
Yes. The watch head can be lifted out of its factory clip frame and re-installed into an aftermarket conversion frame that has a wrist strap. Most owners do this within the first day. The 40mm case wears comfortably on most adult wrists once mounted.
Is the Royal Pop water resistant?
Swatch rates the Royal Pop at 2 ATM (20 metres) — splash and rain resistant only, not for swimming. If you're going near a pool or beach, swap to an FKM rubber strap on a sealed frame and avoid full immersion.
What movement does the Royal Pop use?
A brand-new hand-wound version of Swatch's SISTEM51, with 51 parts, a co-developed Nivachron anti-magnetic balance spring, and a 90+ hour power reserve at 21,600 vph. The previous SISTEM51 family was automatic; this is the first manual-wind variant.
Which colorway holds its value best?
Early collector consensus: Lan Ba (light blue), Ocho Negro (panda) and Huit Blanc (white rainbow) for resale; Otg Roz (Memphis) and Orenji Hachi (orange) for cultural cachet. The eight colorways are part of a permanent collection, not limited editions — so resale premiums depend on the cultural moment more than on scarcity.
Where can I buy the Royal Pop itself?
Selected Swatch boutiques worldwide — in-store only — from May 16, 2026 onwards. One piece per person per store per day. No online sale at launch. Aftermarket listings appear within hours of launch days at the usual grey-market sites (Chrono24, eBay). Expect premiums on launch day; prices normalise within 2–4 weeks.
What's the case size and thickness?
The watch head is 40.0mm diameter and 8.4mm thick. With the factory clip frame and lanyard attached, overall dimensions are 44.2mm × 53.2mm × 8.4mm. The Lépine variants have a standard dial layout; the two Savonnettes add a small seconds register at 6 o'clock.
Are the straps I see on this site official Swatch products?
No. We are an independent aftermarket guide. We curate frames, straps and accessories from third-party makers, marketplaces and small workshops. Swatch's own clip frames and lanyards are sold via swatch.com — we link there too when their option is best for a given use case.
Do you sell straps directly?
Not yet. Pop Strap Finder is currently a comparison and review site — we link out to where you can buy each item. We may add direct retail later.
How do you make money if you don't sell straps?
Affiliate commissions. When you click through to Amazon, AliExpress, eBay or Etsy and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. See our affiliate disclosure.
How do you decide which straps and frames to recommend?
Material quality, fit accuracy for the Royal Pop's clip-frame system, value at the price point, and community feedback from r/Watches and r/Swatch. We don't accept payment for placement.

Compatibility & fit

Does a MoonSwatch strap fit the Royal Pop?
Not directly. The MoonSwatch uses fixed lug pins; the Royal Pop uses a clip-frame system. They share Bioceramic DNA but the attachment mechanism is different. A few aftermarket makers (Crafter Blue, Barton, Helvetus) are expected to release Royal Pop-specific conversion frames in the weeks after launch.
What strap width does the Royal Pop's clip frame expose?
Most early aftermarket conversion frames expose a 20mm or 22mm spring-bar interface on the wrist side. The watch head itself has no lug width — that's a property of the frame you choose.
Can I keep wearing it as a pocket watch?
Yes — that's how it ships. The factory frame includes a non-removable calfskin lanyard. Aftermarket Albert chains, fobs, and pocket-watch-style lanyards work too: they attach to the frame's lanyard loop, not the watch head.
Will Swatch sell extra clip frames?
Yes. Swatch's accessories range includes alternate Bioceramic clip frames in matching and contrasting colorways, plus replacement lanyards, at around $45 each. This is the OEM option. Aftermarket conversion frames typically come in at $20–60 and offer wrist functionality the OEM frames don't.
How do I remove the watch head from the clip frame?
The watch head lifts out with firm finger pressure — no tools required. Press from the back of the frame, and the case pops forward. Re-installing is a snap-in. Practice the move a few times before swapping to an aftermarket frame.
