FAQ
Lanyards & Cords — questions answered.
What's the best lanyards & cords strap for the Royal Pop?
A lanyard is the most pocket-watch-faithful accessory. The Royal Pop has the right size and weight to be worn around the neck without becoming awkward. Look for cord with a quick-release for changing-room moments, and braided leather for any kind of formal context. For colorway-specific recommendations, see our dedicated colorway pages.
Does a MoonSwatch strap fit the Royal Pop?
Not directly. The MoonSwatch uses fixed lug pins; the Royal Pop uses a clip-frame system. They share Bioceramic DNA but the attachment mechanism is different. A few aftermarket makers (Crafter Blue, Barton, Helvetus) are expected to release Royal Pop-specific conversion frames in the weeks after launch.
What strap width does the Royal Pop's clip frame expose?
Most early aftermarket conversion frames expose a 20mm or 22mm spring-bar interface on the wrist side. The watch head itself has no lug width — that's a property of the frame you choose.
Can I keep wearing it as a pocket watch?
Yes — that's how it ships. The factory frame includes a non-removable calfskin lanyard. Aftermarket Albert chains, fobs, and pocket-watch-style lanyards work too: they attach to the frame's lanyard loop, not the watch head.
Will Swatch sell extra clip frames?
Yes. Swatch's accessories range includes alternate Bioceramic clip frames in matching and contrasting colorways, plus replacement lanyards, at around $45 each. This is the OEM option. Aftermarket conversion frames typically come in at $20–60 and offer wrist functionality the OEM frames don't.
How do I remove the watch head from the clip frame?
The watch head lifts out with firm finger pressure — no tools required. Press from the back of the frame, and the case pops forward. Re-installing is a snap-in. Practice the move a few times before swapping to an aftermarket frame.
Will any 20mm strap fit the Audemars Piguet × Swatch Royal Pop?
Not directly. The Royal Pop's watch head doesn't have lugs or spring bars — it clips into a Bioceramic frame. The frame carries the strap. To wear a third-party 20mm strap, you need an aftermarket conversion frame that wraps the case head and exposes a standard 20–22mm spring-bar interface on the underside. Swatch also sells official alternate frames + lanyards at around $45.
Can I wear the Royal Pop on my wrist?
Yes. The watch head can be lifted out of its factory clip frame and re-installed into an aftermarket conversion frame that has a wrist strap. Most owners do this within the first day. The 40mm case wears comfortably on most adult wrists once mounted.
Is the Royal Pop water resistant?
Swatch rates the Royal Pop at 2 ATM (20 metres) — splash and rain resistant only, not for swimming. If you're going near a pool or beach, swap to an FKM rubber strap on a sealed frame and avoid full immersion.
